Preliminary numbers show that Minnesota law enforcement made about 100 DWI arrests during their largest one-night crackdown ever, KSTP reports. About half of the arrests made overnight were in the Twin Cities.

The Department of Public Safety provided a live report of arrest activity on Twitter from the handle @MnDPS_OTS, using hashtag #May10DWI. The tweets listed ages, gender and locations of those arrested.

KSTP says at one point, arrestees' names were published, but those tweets were later removed.

About 150 squads from more than 70 agencies hit the roads Friday night in the metro alone. Extra DWI patrols in other counties also participated.

Historically, drunk driving increases as warm-weather arrives. According to a Department of Public Safety, there were 288 drunk driving deaths from May to August in the past five years, representing 44 percent of all drunk driving deaths in the same time span.
