After a decade of leading St. Benedict, president MaryAnn Baenninger announced that she will step down on Jun. 30.

Baenninger informed the Board of Trustees of her decision, and the search for her successor will begin immediately. The university said the expectation is that a new president would be in place by Jul. 1, 2014.

The Star Tribune reports that Baenninger is not ready to retire yet, but that she has no specific plans for what is next.

Baenninger said that she made the decision that its the right time for a transition for her and the school. "We will have concluded our centennial celebration year and a very successful decade for the college. My husband Ron and I are also ready to be closer geographically to our children and grandchildren at this point in our lives."

The Associated Press reports that Baenninger is the 14th president at the school. Enrollment at the school is 2,000.
