Eden Prairie is turning blue, as balloons of that color spread through the community in a show of support for the family of Sydney Galleger.

The 17-year-old who died this week following complications from the removal of her wisdom teeth is being remembered at a Saturday morning funeral service.

Friends and neighbors organized a movement to place blue balloons on homes and businesses in the area in a show of support for the Galleger family, the Eden Prairie News reports.

Family friend Shannon Dodds writes on her Mommyapolis blog that the hope is to blanket Eden Prairie and surrounding areas with blue balloons to honor Sydney, adding "We’d love for the balloons to be up by 9:00am so that the Gallegers can feel our love on the way to the funeral of their special girl. "

KSTP visited an Eden Prairie Walgreen's that was having trouble keeping up with the demand for blue balloons, even though it placed a special order for 2,000 of them.

Sydney went into cardiac arrest last week at the end of a normally routine procedure to remove her wisdom teeth.

She was rushed to a hospital but the swelling of her brain worsened until doctors told family members there was nothing more they could do.

Family members wrote in a CaringBridge post: "We may never know the reason of why her heart decided to come to a rest but we do know she had the biggest heart as a daughter and friend."

Her family wrote that they found some comfort in Sydney's decision to be an organ donor, with KSTP reporting her transplanted organs have already helped about 60 patients.

Meanwhile, her story continues to spread around the world.
