Barn fire kills thousands of turkeys in west-central Minnesota

The blaze burned down a large turkey barn near Frazee.

A barn fire in northwest Minnesota killed an estimated 6,000 to 8,000 turkeys Thursday morning, according to the Fargo Forum

The fire started in the New Life Farms-owned turkey barn near Frazee, Minnesota around 7 a.m., and by the time fire crews arrived it was fully engulfed in flames. 

According to WDAY, the turkey barn was scheduled to be emptied Friday with the turkeys on their way out. 

In all, five area fire departments were called in to action to help battle the fire.
