A western Wisconsin man has been arrested in connection to a series of grass fires that authorities believe he intentionally started.

According to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald, a 32-year-old Barron man is being held in the county jail on pending charges of three counts of arson and three counts of reckless endangering safety.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said the 32-year-old was a volunteer fireman with the Barron Fire Department, and he's accused of responding as a firefighter to one of the three grass fires he allegedly started.

The report doesn't say where the fires were started, nor does it say how big the grass fires became.

The suspect has been suspended from the fire department and is being held in jail pending formal charges being filed by the district attorney's office.
