Lee MacPhail, the oldest living Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and father of former Twins general manager, Andy MacPhail, has died, The Associated Press reported.

He was 95.

The Hall of Fame said Lee MacPhail died Thursday night at his home in Delray Beach, Fla.

The longtime baseball executive was noted for upholding a protest by the Kansas City Royals in 1983, in which slugger George Brett's ninth-inning home run against the New York York Yankees was restored after previously being rejected because Brett was accused of using pine tar on his bat.

Bobby Doerr, age 94, is now the oldest living Hall of Famer in baseball.
