Metro-area drivers have grown used to I-35W shutting down between Hwy. 62 and Interstate 94 during recent weekends, but similar closures are set to take place Monday and Tuesday night this week.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is shutting down 35W northbound from Hwy. 62 to I-94 beginning at 10 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
Then, from 10 p.m. Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday they'll shut down the same stretch of road in the southbound direction.
The closures will allow construction crews to work on the 38th Street bridge.
Detours will take drivers to Hwy. 62, Hwy. 100 and I-394.
It's part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation's massive reconstruction of the I-35W–I-94 interchange south of downtown Minneapolis, that is seeing the reconstruction of bridges and ramps between now and 2021.
