Bear takes a break from the heat in Duluth family's wading pool

Just a normal summer's day in Duluth: You wake up, make some breakfast and th ... oh wait there's a bear in your wading pool.

This was the sight that greeted Duluth's Dave Zbaracki when he looked out onto his deck on Monday – a black bear cooling off in the children's pool – we're presuming it didn't use the slide before flopping down in the water.

Posting the picture on Facebook, which has been shared more than 600 times, Zbaracki said: "As luck would have it, the restoration of power was not the highlight of our day. And no, that's not our dog.

"I guess he just wanted to cool off, so we left him alone. :)"

You have to cut the bear a break, Minnesota is in the midst of a heatwave and that bear has some seriously thick fur.

Speaking to BringMeTheNews, Zbaracki said: "We were leaving to run some errands and I noticed him in the backyard. I told my wife to get the kids in the truck, then she came in.

"We snapped a few photos (through the glass) and left him alone. He was there maybe 15 minutes. Black bears are fairly docile unless cubs are involved – and Duluthians are accustomed to encounters with nature."
