If you're heading to the Surly brewery on Saturday, prepare for long lines.

That's because Oct. 15 is Surly's Darkness Day, a day for beer fans to gather at the brewery in Brooklyn Center for the release of Darkness 2016, a popular brew that comes out for a limited time every October.

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. on Saturday and besides all the beer, the day is full of live music from local and national metal bands, as well as food trucks and limited cask pours, Surly's website says.

Only 1,500 wristbands will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, Surly said. A wristband will allow you to purchase up to six bottles of Darkness.

Here's a video of what to expect:

What's so great about the beer?

Darkness is a Russian Imperial Stout with hints of chocolate, cherry, raisin, and coffee, and is 13% ABV.

According to MNBEER.COM, it is one of the most sought after beers in the country, with people lining up 24 hours in advance for Darkness Day.

In fact, they line up so early that Surly warned people they would be kicked out if they started the line before 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Surly knows that people want the beer, and they've expanded distribution of Darkness to outstate markets like Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and for the first time, to North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska, City Pages said.

This year, they're bringing Darkness to more bars, and they've added a few other limited-time dark beers, Minneapolis Eater said.

The new brews are Furious Black, a black IPA, and Damien, an American Black Ale.

You can try them all at Darkness Day, where beer tickets cost $5 each.
