Bemidji police launch murder probe after woman is found stabbed in street

Police are investigating a homicide in Bemidji after a woman died from multiple stab wounds Friday night.

The Bemidji Police Department said in a news release it was called at 7.12 a.m. to reports of a woman lying on the street in the 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue.

They said the woman, named as Krista Fisherman, 35, of Redby, Minnesota, had been stabbed “numerous times” and emergency responders “worked diligently” to stop the bleeding.

She was taken by ambulance to the Sanford Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

According to the Bemidji Pionner, chief of police Mike Mastin said the case is being investigated as a homicide, and said there is no ongoing danger to the public.

The case is being investigated by Bemidji Police, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
