Benefit to honor Minneapolis workplace shooting victim on Sunday

The Maple Grove Arts Center will host a spaghetti lunch and silent auction event on Sunday to benefit Jacob Beneke's wife and six-year-old son, KARE 11 reports. Beneke was among the six victims who lost their life in September after a gunman opened fire at Accent Signage Systems in northeast Minneapolis.

The Maple Grove Arts Center will host a spaghetti lunch and silent auction event on Sunday to benefit Jacob Beneke's wife and six-year-old son, KARE 11 reports. Beneke was among the six victims who lost their life in September after shooting at Accent Signage Systems in northeast Minneapolis.

Two other victims were wounded in the mass shooting before the shooter, Andrew Engeldinger, turned the gun on himself. He was an employee terminated from the company the day he opened fire.

Last month, officials at Accent Signage Systems vowed that the company will continue operations despite the worst workplace shooting in recent Minnesota history.

The family of Eric Rivers says they removed him from life support Wednesday night at Hennepin County Medical Center. He'd been critically injured at Accent Signage when employee Andrew Engeldinger, who'd just been fired, went on a shooting rampage on Sept. 27. Rivers' passing marked the sixth death in the tragedy.

Transcripts of 911 calls made at the time of the deadly shooting at Accent Signage Systems in Minneapolis Sept. 27 were released Tuesday. When Andrew Engeldinger opened fire at Accent Signage Systems on Sept. 27, at least four people were unable to connect with a 911 dispatcher. WCCO says there were 65 calls into the dispatch center between 4 and 5 p.m. that day, 16 related to the shooting.

Officials at Accent Signage in Minneapolis vowed Monday that the company will continue operations despite the Sept. 27 shooting that left seven dead and two wounded. "Their loss has taken a tremendous toll on our company and had an unimaginable impact on our families," said Shereen Rahamim, wife of the slain owner.
