Bernie Sanders to rally for Keith Ellison at First Avenue in Minneapolis

The high-profile Democrat will seek to boost Ellison's run for Attorney General.

Senator Bernie Sanders will be in Minneapolis this Friday, where he's the guest of honor at a rally for Minnesota Attorney General candidate Keith Ellison.

During his time in Congress, Ellison has been an ally to Sanders, supporting him during his 2016 campaign for the Democratic nomination for president, and in turn getting support from Sanders in his run to become chair of the Democratic National Committee.

Now Sanders is backing Ellison to become the next Attorney General for Minnesota, a position Ellison is running for after incumbent Lori Swanson announced she'll be running for governor.

On Friday, Sanders and Ellison will be at First Avenue in downtown Minneapolis, where they will rally support for the Minnesota politician's campaign.

The event gets underway at 9:30 a.m. and will feature musical performances from Minneapolis rapper Dwynell Roland and DJ Shannon Blowtorch.

Tickets for the rally are free, but you can only get one at a time and you're automatically signed up for Keith Ellison's newsletter. More details here.

Roland, who is launching his new album, "Young Roland," at Day Block Brewing on Friday night, was pretty excited to be asked to perform at the rally.

"I got hit with this wild opportunity from Keith Ellison and Bernie Sanders camp and First Avenue to perform at their rally this Friday," he wrote on Facebook.

"THIS S--- IS MAD WILD! Bernie and Keith are great... this is crazy to me."
