Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will join the throngs at the Minnesota State Fair this weekend.

The Vermont senator will be at the Minnesota Public Radio booth on Judson Avenue, between Nelson and Underwood streets, at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

He will be the guest for a "Meet the Candidates" Q&A session with MPR News, per his campaign website.

Sanders has a big following in Minnesota, as evidenced by the 2016 presidential caucuses that saw state Democrats give him the nod over eventual winner Hillary Clinton.

Also in attendance at the State Fair this week, unsurprisingly, will be Minnesota presidential hopeful Amy Klobuchar.

She'll be at the Amy for American booth across from the Dairy Building at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, the opening day of the fair.

Meanwhile, former 1st District congressman Jason Lewis has said he will make a "big announcement" this Thursday at the State Fair.

Widely expected to announce a run for Senate, going against Rep. Tina Smith, the Republican will make his announcement at 10 a.m., according to the Star Tribune's J. Patrick Coolican.
