Set 'em up and sit 'em down. That's what Chris Sale and Jose Berrios have being doing to opposing batters all season, and tonight they go head-to-head as the Twins and Red Sox begin a four-game series at Fenway Park.
As good as Sale is (9-3, 2.85 ERA, 0.90 WHIP), Berrios has been just as effective (7-1, 2.67 ERA, 0.91 WHIP) in eight starts since getting called up in May.
Like Sale, who's pitched into the eighth inning seven times in 15 starts, Berrios has pitched into the eighth inning in half of his eight outings, including each of his last two.
Boston took three of four at Target Field in early May, including a blowout win in Sale's lone start against Minnesota this season. But according to NESN, the Twins have won four of the last six against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. And Minnesota owns the second-best road record (23-9) in the big leagues.
The Twins just swept a three-game series in Cleveland and after four in Boston they play the Royals in Kansas City for four more. Then it's seven straight at home against the Angels and Orioles before hitting the All-Star break.
Minnesota sits alone in first place in the AL Central while the Red Sox are tied with the Yankees for first in the AL East.
First pitch is set for 6:10 p.m. on Fox Sports North and Go 96.3 FM.
