Best Buy employees chip in to buy a teen a Wii U

This is a nice thing.

Employees of the year – or at least of the holiday season – might belong to a Best Buy in New York.

After seeing a teen come in every day to play Super Smash Bros. on the store's demo Wii U, workers at the Valley Stream Best Buy chipped in money to buy him a gift: His own Wii U system, with his own copy of Super Smash Bros.

An employee, Rahiem Storr, posted video of the gifting to YouTube on Dec. 7.

He looks uncertain, at first. But one worker chimes in with encouragement: "No for real, this is for you. Consider it an early Christmas present."

Wii Us sells for about $300, and games around $60.

Since the video was posted, it's been picked up by places like Inside Edition, Huffington Post and CNN.

In a follow-up video, Storr said the teen was driven home to his parents' house, and they were "beyond welcoming."

He also addressed negative comments on the original video, including people saying they were tired of him coming by, or that race played a role and using slurs, or guessing he didn't have a TV at home.

"I wanna say about 80 percent of the comments are negative, and my problem with this is that this is exactly what's wrong with the world," he says. "You finally have someone trying to do something good, and rather than you congratulating that person or corralling around that person and building their confidence, you are all attempting to knock it down. I don't get it."

He later adds: "I understand the internet is full of trolls, but damn."

Anyway, good on you Best Buy team at Valley Stream. And teen in the video, we've all lost to King DeDeDe before, so don't sweat it.
