Best Buy is staying open an hour later on Sunday – and not just for the holidays, reports the Business Journal.

The chain recently shifted its Sunday closing time from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in what will be a permanent change. Stores will still open at 11 a.m.

The Business Journal quotes Best Buy spokesman Jeff Shelman, who said it's part of the company's commitment to give their customers "the ability to shop when and where they want to."

"We tested it in some markets and the reaction from customers has been very positive," Shelman said.

The Richfield-based retailer has made a number of aggressive moves in recent weeks to bolster its sales on the back of a good third quarter. The company beat profit estimates and turned in its first quarterly same-store sales growth of 2013.

Most recently, the chain announced it will be offering Black Friday deals a week early. Some of those early deals include a Vizio 50-inch television for $449.99 (normally $650), a 32-inch Toshiba television for $199.99 and a free $75 store gift cart for customers who purchase a a fourth generation Apple iPad with Retina Display.

They will also be joining the ranks of stores opening on Thanksgiving day this year. Doors will open at 6 p.m. that Thursday, and remain that way until 10 p.m. Black Friday.

An MPR analysis looked at the stock’s historic turnaround. Sixteen analysts following Best Buy have rated the stock a buy. The stock has more than tripled since the beginning of the year and hit a two-year high last week. A year ago, just two analysts recommended the stock.
