Best Buy takes aim at Walmart price-comparison ads

Walmart's aggressive advertising campaign that specifically names competitors in radio and TV spots has irked the rivals, including Best Buy.

The Walmart ads claim to have lower prices on specific items than competitors like the Minnesota-based electronic retailer, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Walmart says the ads are accurate. But Best Buy says the Walmart ads don't compare products that are exactly the same. Best Buy and a few others have complained to attorneys general in several states.

Best Buy complained about a Walmart ad that ran during the holidays that claimed a Dell laptop cost an additional $251 at Best Buy, the Journal reported. But Best Buy officials said that the two laptops being compared were not the same models and that the one it offered had a longer battery life, the newspaper reported.
