Apparently Best Buy isn't afraid of "showrooming." That's when a shopper checks out a product in a store, but finds it cheaper online.

The Pioneer Press reports the Richfield-based consumer electronics big-box outlet is expanding its efforts to work with developers of mobile shopping apps that make it even easier to use a smartphone for comparison shopping.

RedLaser, which is owned by eBay, is one of Best Buy's strongest app partners, according to the newspaper. The app, which has access to Best Buy's warehouse of data, allows customers to compare products, prices and availability.

A mobile analytics company noted the time shoppers spend on price-comparison apps increased by more than 250 percent in a year.

Best Buy dismisses any concerns that it's helping customers engage in "showrooming" by cooperating with software developers.

Earlier this month, the retailer launched a policy to match the prices of online retail rivals, including Amazon.com and Wal-Mart
