Best Buy will give you free shipping on all online orders starting Sunday

Best Buy says it knows what America wants for the holidays – free shipping.

After conducting a "holiday study," the Richfield, Minnesota-based electronics giant has a list of the "Top 15 tech gifts for 2015," – but also concluded that "value," "convenience" and "service" are just as important to shoppers as the latest gadgets.

Thus, a break on shipping costs.

"Customers will enjoy free shipping with no minimum order required from Oct. 25, 2015 through Jan. 2, 2016 on all items sold by and shipped from Best Buy," the company said in a Thursday release.

This is a departure from the retailer's usual policy, which normally only allows for free shipping on orders $35 or more.

Other perks for the all-important holiday season? Free "Geek Squad" setup on certain products, "Black Friday-like events" offered "all day in all stores" on Nov. 7, and more, the company says.

The Star Tribune says the move makes Best Buy "one of the first major retailers" to offer free holiday shipping this year.

One of the company's biggest competitors – Target, another Minnesota retailer – has yet to make such an announcement, though it made a big statement last year when it offered free holiday shipping, according to the paper. And earlier this year, Target began offering free shipping on all orders $25 or more – one of the lowest thresholds in the space.

That's not to say that the bullseye isn't ready for the busiest shopping season of the year. Just last month, the retailer announced an aggressive expansion of its price-matching program, which now competes with 29 online retailers – a far cry from the mere five that were previously on the list.

But we realize you're probably wondering what some of those hot "tech gifts" are: according to the Best Buy's studies, iPads, the "Bose QuietComfort 25 Noise Cancelling Headphones," MacBooks, and two large-screen HDTVs are in the top five of the items likely to end up under the tree this year.
