Authorities are investigating a fatal crash involving a school bus and bicyclist.

Brooklyn Park Police Department reports that the crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of 65th Avenue and Zen Avenue, with officers first to the scene finding a man who had been hit by the bus while riding a bike.

The man, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The school bus was carrying a driver and 10 children who were being transported to a local charter school. Nobody on the bus was injured and the students were transferred to another bus.

Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley told KSTP that several children were "visibly upset" and that counselors were being made available to them at their school.

The bus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

An investigation is ongoing.
