Bicyclist hit and killed by Blue Line train in south Minneapolis
A bicyclist was struck and killed by a light-rail train on the Blue Line in south Minneapolis Monday night.
The fatal collision happened just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of E. 35th St. and Hiawatha Ave. The victim's identity has not been released other than Metro Transit authorities revealing that it was a male on the bicycle who died.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the incident and are going through surveillance video and interviewing possible witnesses.
The accident forced a stoppage of trains on the Blue Line from the time of the accident until approximately 10:15 p.m. between the 46th St. and Franklin Ave. stations.
Victim hit by Green Line train in St. Paul identified
Last Friday, a pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing the Green Line tracks at the Dale Street station in St. Paul. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Hanue Salahdin Sukar.
