Bill O’Reilly's most hip-hop moments revisited

A frequent antagonist of rappers, Bill's exit is bittersweet in terms of the memes he inspired.

Over the years, Bill O’Reilly paid more attention to hip-hop than most political pundits – even if it was primarily negative.

The dismissal of The O’Reilly Factor host from the network amid sexual harassment allegations has sent echoes throughout the hip-hop community.

As we wave goodbye to O’Reilly, let's revisit some of his greatest memes one last time.

Bill O’Reilly's first head-on collision with hip-hop came when he urged Americans to boycott Pepsi over hiring Ludacris as their spokesperson in 2002. That's right, Bill was allegedly upset over how Luda's music "degrades women." O'Reilly's dismissal happened the same week as Pepsi's disastrous blowback from a controversial non-rapper commercial. All the while, Ludacris had the highest worldwide box office opening in cinema history. Poetic justice?

One year later, Bill O’Reilly had Roc-a-Fella's Cam'ron and Dame Dash on The Factor to discuss the influence hip-hop had on students. As the rap internet was just taking off, this infamous clip became a meme machine. From "U MAAAD" to "Marilyn Manson Jumpoff" to "I got dirt on you doggy," it's staggering that this clip went without any Emmys. I guess Cam had dirt on Big Bill indeed.

Remember in 2009 when Bill O’Reilly tried to get America to think Common, of all people, was a violent gangsta rapper, and said that inviting him to the White House was a horrifying mistake? And then Jon Stewart came to his defense, shutting O’Reilly down to his face? Not since "The B***h N Yoo" has Common been the source for such a smackdown.

You would think Bill O’Reilly would have some common ground with a rapper calling Barack Obama a "terrorist," but for Bill that was going too far. So, in 2011, Bill brought Lupe on the show to, of all things, defend Barack Obama. This is surreal.

Even outside of his show, Bill was no stranger to hip-hop trolling. During a 2015 appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Bill took the stage to The Roots' rendition of Killer Mike's modern classic "Reagan."

Here's just a clip of Bill having a back and forth with Violent J of ICP. This is a thing that happened.
