En route to Rochester for a performance Friday night, the tour bus carrying the Blues Traveler band was involved in a crash.
Blues Traveler frontman John Popper suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Winona Health for care. But the band still plans to take the stage Friday night at Mayo Civic Center Park.
"This morning our tour bus went off the road and crossed the median. Thankfully we are all safe and have only sustained minor injuries," a message on the Blues Traveler Facebook page says. "Our sincere gratitude to the Winona MN, Police Department and Rescue Crew for their help getting us safely off the highway and out of oncoming traffic."
According to a crash report from the Minnesota State Patrol, the tour bus was traveling westbound on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control and bus went into the center median ditch.
There were 11 people on the bus, three of whom were injured, including Popper. The others are identified as 51-year-old David Derrick and 39-year-old Mateo Rodriguez, both of whom were taken to Winona Health with minor injuries.
The crash happened near mile post 253 in Wilson Township at about 6:24 a.m.
