BMW stolen in carjacking incident near U of M Twin Cities
Authorities are investigating a carjacking that happened just a couple blocks off the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis.
The robbery took place just before 7 p.m. Saturday, when two suspects held up the driver of a black BMW near the intersection of 14th Ave SE and 8th St SE.
According to a safety alert from campus police, the suspects — "possibly in their teens" and using a gun — took the BMW and the driver's wallet.
The vehicle has a Minnesota license, number EUM622. The crime happened in the jurisdiction of the Minneapolis Police Department, so anyone with information should submit a tip to them.
Saturday's carjacking is the latest in a rash of similar armed robberies, with at least seven taking place in the last month.
The most recent also involved male suspects said to be in their teens; in one incident on Sunday, September 6, three young suspects armed with a gun made off with a driver's wallet, phone and car.
It's not clear if any of these incidents are related.
