The boater who died in an accident on Lake Minnetonka Sunday has been identified as a Shorewood father-of-four.

Family have identified Erick Barbieri-Astorga as the victim of the tragedy that unfolded over the weekend, with the 40-year-old reported missing on Saturday before his body was found on Sunday morning.

Authorities found his boat circling unoccupied, with divers focusing search efforts near the Big Island area before his body was eventually recovered.

A GoFundMe page set up to help his family revealed Barbieri-Astorga was a husband and a father of four girls from Shorewood.

The fundraiser has been created to help his wife, Denise, with the funeral expenses as well as to pay for medications for two of his daughters, who have "lifelong medical conditions."

"He was their main provider," Kathy Whetston Bakkelund wrote on GoFundMe. "His loss will create not only incredible emotional hardships for his family, but financial strain while they adjust to life without their daddy and husband."

She described the 40-year-old as "an incredibly loving and generous man."

"He was always willing to help anyone out however he could," she wrote. "He adored his daughters and loved spending his time with them. He loved his boat and being on the lake.

"He was the life of any party, and would make friends anywhere and everywhere he went. Always excited to try new things and new adventures. He had a wonderful way of making people feel welcome and wanted. Losing him leaves a tremendous hole in our family."

"Our hearts are shattered," she finishes. "We love you, Erick."

As of Monday lunchtime, the fundraiser had generated almost $7,500 in donations.
