Body found after house fire in northern Minnesota

A person was found dead after a house fire in northern Minnesota on Wednesday night.

Fire crews received a report at around 10:30 p.m. from a caller who said there was a house on fire in the 600 block of 2nd Street SE in Menahga, Wadena County.

When local police arrived they found the house fully engulfed in flames, with firefighters from the Menahga and Sebeka departments arriving a short time later.

It took three hours to extinguish the fire, during which time a body was found inside the house.

The person's identity hasn't been revealed. A medical examiner is set to conduct an autopsy to confirm their cause of death.

The cause of the fire is also under investigation.

Menahga is located about 12 miles south of Park Rapids.
