Authorities have confirmed that the body found inside a burned car near Chicago is that of a former Stillwater teacher.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Thursday that 56-year-old Kathleen Ryan died in the vehicle, having been identified via dental records.

The Milwaukee resident had been reported missing by her family when she failed to turn up to watch a basketball game with her son Illinois on Saturday.

Her vehicle was later found burned with human remains inside it.

Ryan previously taught at Stillwater Area High School, where she was the economics curriculum director for the district K-12 while teaching micro and macro economics to seniors.
