Police are investigating the death of a man found in a burning vehicle early Sunday morning in Minneapolis.

The discovery was made on the 1300 block of 2nd Street South around 4:10 a.m., with officers finding the body after the fire was extinguished.

The man showed "obvious signs of trauma" and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the man along with their cause of death will be released at a late date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Minneapolis PD did not make any reference to the incident being connected to the overnight protests, with the body found a distance away from where any of the protests were taking place.
