A driver died after their car rolled several times before landing upside down in a ditch, catching fire in the process.
The incident was reported just after 2:15 a.m. Sunday in Wadena County, where police were informed of a vehicle upside down in a ditch and on fire in Shell River Township.
Police and fire crews were sent to the scene to find the vehicle engulfed in flames.
As the firefighters dampened the blaze, the driver was found inside and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigation found that the driver was traveling southbound on 199th Avenue, just south of the Hubbard County Line Road, when they lost control and entered a ditch.
Once in the ditch, the vehicle hit an approach and rolled several times before coming to a rest on its roof.
The victim has been taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy and identification.
There have been 96 deaths on Minnesota roads so far in 2019, two fewer than at the same date last year.
