Body found in St. Paul drainage ditch ID'd as man missing for months

Joseph Paul Bobo was found by an Xcel Energy maintenance worker.

The long search for a missing St. Paul man came to a sad end with the discovery of a body this week.

The badly decomposed body was found Monday in a drainage ditch by an Xcel Energy employee doing maintenance work near 7th Street and Randolph Avenue.

Though the decomposition was so advanced that investigators weren't sure if the person was male or female, the body has since been identified as 31-year-old Joseph Paul Bobo, the Pioneer Press reports.

Joseph Paul Bobo's family had been looking for him for months, as evidenced by this Facebook post from June:

The Pioneer Press says Bobo went missing in April, and that because he and his girlfriend had been homeless, authorities believe his death may have been "weather-related."

St. Paul Police public information coordinator Steve Linders tells Bring Me The News that "the case remains open," but otherwise, no other details about Bobo's death have been released yet.
