Hennepin County medical examiner's office officials were called Monday to a towing company near downtown Minneapolis after a body was discovered in a gold Lexus, the Star Tribune reported.

The car in a lot at Wreckers Services, at Glenwood and Lyndale avenues, is registered to a St. Paul woman, and police were trying to determine whether that woman had been missing, the newspaper reported.

The death is being investigated as a possible homicide, WCCO reports.

Employees discovered the body in the trunk after they first noticed an odor around the four-door vehicle, WCCO reports.

Brooklyn Park Police were called because the vehicle has been towed from a site in Brooklyn Park, WCCO reports.

A KARE 11 image showed a sheriff's office crime lab van at the scene near the Lexus.
