A body found in the Mississippi River near Trenton, Wisconsin, just over the border with Minnesota, has been identified as that of a missing Eau Claire woman.
Muzeyyen Ayan, 47, was last seen at Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport on Feb. 26.
According to a news release from Eau Claire police, Ayan moved to the U.S. from Turkey five years ago to live with her daughters, and on the day of her disappearance, was due to fly back to her native country with her brother.
For some reason, she refused to board the plane, and was seen on surveillance video taking a southbound light rail train out of the airport and towards the Mall of America:
Her family contacted police the next day, apparently concerned because she had "health issues," the Leader-Telegram notes.
Nearly a month passed with an update, and sadly, on Tuesday, her body was found by a fisherman near Everts Resort, according to Forum News Service.
Forum says Ayan's body has been taken to Ramsey County, Minnesota, for an autopsy.
Few other details are available, but authorities do not suspect foul play.
