A body has been found in the search for a Wisconsin fire chief who was reported missing on Aug. 19.
Arcadia-Glencoe Fire Chief Jeff Halvorsen, 53, of Arcadia, was reported missing on Aug. 19. He was last seen driving a gray 2020 Dodge ram 2500 pickup truck, the Trempealeau County Sheriff's Department said.
According to the Trempealeau County Times, Halvorson had last been seen on a gas station camera in Arcadia putting gas in his truck before heading north on Aug. 18. His phone had been turned off since then.
After three days of searching, at 2:15 p.m. on Aug. 22, the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office reported it had found Halvorsen's missing truck in a remote area of Hayward, Wisconsin, a news release says.
Investigators found a body inside the truck. The identity of the body hasn't been, the sheriff's office said. WEAU is reporting the sheriff's department is no longer searching for Halvorsen.
"At this point in the investigation, there is nothing that leads us to believe that foul play is suspected," the sheriff's department said.
Hayward, Wisconsin is about 149 miles or a 2.5-hour drive from Arcadia, Wisconsin. Both cities are located in western Wisconsin..
