Body found in water near Boom Island in Minneapolis
Hennepin County authorities are investigating after a body was found in the water near Boom Island in Minneapolis on Thursday afternoon.
Details are limited but the sheriff's office says someone reported seeing the body in a channel near the island around 4 p.m., which led to a water patrol team recovering it.
The body will be identified at a later date by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
No details about the person's gender or age have been released and it's unclear if foul play was a factor in the case.
Boom Island is located near Main Street, Nicollet Island and the St. Anthony Lock and Dam, and is a popular destination for visitors alongside the Mississippi River.
