Body found in wooded area near I-494 in Minnetonka

Police taped off an area near I-494 and Hwy. 62.

Police are currently at a scene off of Interstate 494 in Minnetonka, where a body has been found.

The discovery was made Wednesday morning in the 12600 block of Whitewater Drive, near where I-494 and Hwy. 62 meet. Minnetonka Police Department has confirmed that a death investigation is underway. 

"At approximately 7:34 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, Minnetonka Police were called to investigate a death near I-494 and Whitewater Drive. Employees of a nearby business discovered a deceased male in a wooded area and called 911," a statement from Minnetonka PD said. 

The victim's identity and cause of death have not been released. 

Sources have told BMTN that the discovery may be connected to a pursuit of a stolen vehicle that shut down both directions of I-494 near Hwy. 7 around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Bloomington Police Department said a suspect fled from the car on foot after stealing a vehicle in Bloomington, with police finding it abandoned on the busy interstate, sparking a search effort.

"The suspect fled from the car on foot and we are now assisting Minnetonka PD with the search," Bloomington PD said Tuesday evening. 

There has however been no official confirmation from police that it is connected to the I-494 search.
