Body found near Rochester hotel identified as Minneapolis man

The 39-year-old was found near a hotel in the south of the city.

Police in Rochester have identified the body found in the city on Monday as that of a Minneapolis man.

Rochester PD said the body of Andre Degeneffe, 39, was found by a passerby near the between the frontage road of Commercial Drive Southwest and U.S. Hwy. 63 just before 12:30 p.m.

The body was found near to a Days Inn hotel, with KTTC reporting Degeneffe was found fully clothed with no weapons or sign of trauma.

His death is being investigated as suspicious by police, but police note his death is likely to have been accidental or medical in nature, and not murder or suicide.

"There does not appear to be any obvious trauma to the subject that would have caused his death," a Rochester PD spokesperson said in a news release.

Degeneffe was staying at the Days Inn hotel on his own prior to his death and left the premises around 11:15 a.m., with his family reporting him missing an hour before he was found.

A cause of death will be released at a later stage once an autopsy has been completed.
