A man has been taken into custody after a body was found in a daycare parking lot in Lakeville Tuesday morning.

The Lakeville Police Department said another agency requested it do a welfare check of a female in the area of 203rd Street and Icefall Trail at about 2:40 a.m.

When police arrived, officers found a body in the parking lot. The deceased has not been identified and it's unclear how old she is.

Police said a man is being held in connection to the case, noting there is no known threat to community safety.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation, which is still in the "very early stages," police said.

Police haven't released any other information, but do plan to provide another update around noon on Tuesday.
