Body of man pulled from Grindstone River in Hinckley

A man matching his description was reported missing a short time later.

The body of an elderly white man was pulled from the Grindstone River in Hinckley on Friday.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office reports the body was found at the Grindstone Reservoir damn north of County Road 18 at Dunn Avenue just after 10 a.m.

When deputies arrived, the caller directed them to the top side of the dam, where the man was found face down in the water.

He was fully clothed and had no ID on him when he was removed.

A short time later, a male matching the description of the person pulled from the water was reported missing from an address in Hinckley.

The sheriff's office said that the body found was that of the missing man.

At the moment no cause of death has been determined. The man's identity has not yet been released, pending autopsy results and the family being notified.

As of July 31, there have been 25 water-related fatalities in Minnesota, of which 16 were drownings not involving boats.
