Police are investigating after a body was found in ice on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis.
The discovery was made at 12:15 p.m. Sunday near the Franklin Avenue Bridge, with Minneapolis fire and police officials notifying the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's Water Patrol went onto the river in an airboat to recover the body.
"The ice and river conditions made this an especially difficult recovery,” said Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson in a Sunday press statement.
"Our water patrol deputies have the equipment they need, but it is still a quite challenging scene.”
