The City of Minneapolis has released bodycam footage from the fatal police shooting on Cedar Avenue Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Holiday gas station on the 3500 block of Cedar, and resulted in the death of a man identified by family as 23-year-old Dolal Idd.
The 27-second video shows the driver of a white sedan maneuvering in the parking lot as police squad cars surrounded the vehicle.
One of the officers shouts, "Hands up! Police! Hands up!" as the car maneuvers. It appears to show Idd pointing something towards the police. A sound is then heard and the driver's side window shatters from the inside, causing the officer wearing the bodycam to take cover.
Police chief Medaria Arradondo said Wednesday that initial witness reports stated Idd had shot first.
Officers, who are on the driver's side of the vehicle, then respond by firing more than a dozen shots into the vehicle, with Idd later pronounced dead.
MPD spokesman John Elder said Wednesday evening that there was a female passenger in the vehicle, who was not injured.
The short video doesn't include any footage or details that describe how the situation got to that point. No details have been released either that explain why officers drew their guns in the first place.
Elder had said that officers had carried out a traffic stop on a "felony suspect," but did not provide any details as to what felony Idd was wanted for.
MPD has said the videos below are the only ones they are releasing for now.
Warning: They contain graphic and upsetting scenes and language.
