Bones found in Fridley identified as missing man
Human remains found in Fridley on April 1 have been identified as a Fridley man who was reported missing in June 2019.
Bones were discovered by someone walking their dogs in the area of the 6000 block of East River Road, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
"The remains were found in a wooded area along a fence line just west of Stevenson Elementary School," a release from the sheriff's office says.
The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office identified the remains as Scott Michael Waisanen, 48, who was homeless and reported missing on June 8, 2019. The sheriff's office noted that "it was not uncommon for him to be without communication for extended periods of time."
A cause of death has not been determined and an investigation continues to be led by the Fridley Police Department, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.
