A 12-year-old boy has died after being shot in North Minneapolis Wednesday afternoon.
Minneapolis PD says the shooting happened at 3:40 p.m. on the 800 block of Aldrich Avenue North, in the Sumner-Glenwood area of the city.
The boy died in a hospital two hours later. The suspected shooter is also a child, which followed an argument in the area that descended into gunfire.
WCCO reports witnesses said two children were fighting when one of their older brothers fired a gun. No arrests have been made.
MPD spokesman Garrett Parten said: "It's very concerning. In fact, this is a bit shocking. In the middle of a sunny afternoon on an early fall day with school just getting into swing.
"We have those who have no respect for the sanctity of life, shooting and just hitting people. It shocks the conscience. It upsets us as police. It upsets the community."
It marks the third fatal shooting of a child in Minneapolis this year, following the deaths of 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith and 6-year-old Aniya Allen, who were both struck by stray bullets earlier this year.
