Boy, 12, hospitalized after being pulled from Minneapolis pool
A young boy is fighting for his life after being rescued from a public pool in Minneapolis.
At about 5 p.m. on Friday, the 12-year-old was spotted at the bottom of a pool — located at North Commons Water Park on 1801 James Ave. North — by a witness, who ran to a nearby business and called the police.
Per a release from the Hennepin County sheriff, a Minneapolis Park Police officer responded and jumped into the pool, pulling the boy from the water. A second officer performed CPR on him until paramedics arrived.
The boy was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. His current condition is not known.
The incident is now under investigation, but the sheriff says the boy "appears to have climbed a fence around the pool and entered the water."
The fence gate was locked at the time, as the water park has not yet opened for the season.
This is a developing story.
