A 13-year-old boy was injured at a St. Paul school Monday after allegedly being stabbed by a girl of the same age.
The boy, a student of the Community of Peace Academy at 471 Magnolia Ave. E., was taken to Regions Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, after he was stabbed in the stomach with a folding knife.
Police are investigating what led to the stabbing. The girl left the scene but was later apprehended by police, and is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault.
The incident prompted the school to go on lockdown at around 11 a.m., with staff responding quickly to the scene, including the school nurse who provided first aid.
The Community of Peace Academy is a charter school providing preK–12 education in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood.
