A gunshot wound to the head proved fatal for a 16-year-old boy who was found outside Target in Savage last Friday evening.
The grim update was released late Tuesday night, with Savage Police Department saying the boy died Sunday. He had been shot in the head around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the west parking lot of Target located on the 14000 block of Hwy. 13, with police arriving at the scene to find him breathing and semi-conscious before he was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis in critical condition.
He has been identified as Samuel A. Keezer, 16, of Burnsville. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide by gunshot wound to the head.
Officers from the Savage Police Department made three arrests Tuesday in connection to the fatal shooting. A 44-year-old Prior Lake man and a 16-year-old Prior Lake juvenile are each facing pending charges of second-degree murder, while a 43-year-old Prior Lake woman is facing a pending charge of aiding an offender, second-degree murder.
Bring Me The News does not typically name suspects until formal charges are filed, which police say is in the process of happening in Scott County District Court.
"All three suspects are being held in the Scott County Jail but have not been formally charged. The case will be forwarded to the Scott County Attorney’s Office," the release said.
A motive for the shooting has not been announced and the case remains under investigation by Savage PD with assistance from police in Prior Lake and Shakopee, the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
