Boy, 2, critically injured in Coon Rapids crash has died
The 2-year-old boy critically injured in a head-on crash in Coon Rapids at the weekend has died.
Anoka County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Gautam Pujari, of Lino Lakes, on Wednesday succumbed to the injuries sustained in the Saturday crash.
The toddler was in the car with his 5-year-old sister, who sustained serious injuries, and his parents when they were struck head-on by a Dodge Ram that had skidded across the median.
The driver of the pickup has been released from custody with charges pending, with police saying he may have been intoxicated.
A GoFundMe campaign to help the family has raised more than $50,000 so far, with Gautam Pujari's death confirmed on the page.
"With deep regret we inform that little Gautam Pujari passed away this morning at 8:52 am central time (12/4/2019, Wednesday)," a post said.
"We thank you all for the prayers and support. At this point of time, the family is requesting privacy to mourn and grieve the loss of Gautam."
