A 9-year-old child has died in rural Boy River, Minnesota after crashing an ATV.
The boy was driving the Yamaha 700 ATV on private property with a 15-year-old boy when they lost control in a water hole, flipping the vehicle.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the ATV landed on both of them, but caused more serious injuries to the 9-year-old, who died despite lifesaving efforts by first responders.
The teenage passenger was treated for minor injuries after the crash, which happened just after 5 p.m. on Sunday.
An autopsy is now scheduled at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, who is expected to identify the victim at a later time.
