Boy injured in St. Louis Park was shot during celebratory gunfire
The shooting of a boy in St. Louis Park on the 4th of July was likely the result of celebratory gunfire, according to police.
The boy suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm in the incident at 3324 Aquila Ave. S. at 10:44 p.m. Sunday.
While the incident is under investigation, the city provided an update Tuesday that suggests the shooting was not malicious.
"It’s unlikely this was a deliberate act with an intent to cause harm and is more likely connected to reckless behavior in conjunction with Fourth of July celebrations," it said.
"Although the facts related to this particular incident are still being investigated, this is a good reminder about the dangers of firing a bullet into the air with outcomes that can cause serious injury or even death."
