Boy pulled from north Minneapolis pool has died
A young child who was found unresponsive in a north Minneapolis pool has died.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the 12-year-old boy died Tuesday morning. HIs identity has not been released.
At about 5 p.m Friday, the boy was spotted at the bottom of a pool — at North Commons Water Park in north Minneapolis — by a witness, who ran to a nearby business and called 911.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said a Minneapolis Park Police officer responded and jumped into the pool, pulling the boy from the water. A second officer performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived and transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center.
The sheriff's office says the boy "appears to have climbed a fence around the pool and entered the water." The fence gate was locked at the time, as the water park had not yet opened for the season.
There were a number of drowning deaths in Minnesota in the past week, including a 9-year-old boy in North Mankato and a 26-year-old father who was attempting to help kids back to shore in Fridley.
