Doctors say a 6-year-old boy may have permanent damage to his face after a serious dog attack in northwest Wisconsin, Douglas county's second reported incident in May.

The Superior Telegram reports Brandon Blaine was playing catch outside his grandmother's house in Bennett on May 30 when the boy ran behind the family dog, Lucky.

The pit bull-lab mix, who was eating underneath the deck, lunged at Brandon and began attacking the boy's face. His grandmother, Tina Blaine, was able to pull the dog off of him.

The newspaper says the dog bit through the boy's cheek, which required stitches. Doctors said Brandon may never be able to smile with the injured side of his face.

The boy was also treated for rabies, which the dog later tested negative for.

Lucky was put down at the Humane Society.

Blaine tells the newspaper that Brandon is "doing real good.”

A stray dog along attacked a Maple couple walking their puppy on May 19. The animal left puncture wounds in both the man and the woman and ran off into the woods.
